lots of good looking cheap ipad kiosk systems out there. and some good looking table top ones too. heres a few with table graphics + ipad case overlay makes for a nice piece rather than just a ipad stuck on a stand.

so much junk out there on the restaurant apps its unreal. every kid trying to make their own app. heres a few that caught my eye that may be good looking minimal design. mainly the collage square nav, could do some cool building in/out with it and wouldnt be cluttered.

how do they want to gather data? tap into Yelp for reviews, Google for address/phone #, and Google Maps for directions? or would it be a pre-approved list thats in the app?

Preapproved, super simple. I'd give them a simple cms to update

yeh that makes it a ton easier on data side. not having to pull from those sources for reviews and maps.

what about ipad enclosures, what are they priced like (for cheap end range)

also (first thing in morning) hunt down screen size on ipad, want to sell something like that more as a small display than an ipad, from a client perspective, they dont care, screen is screen once its in that enclosure.
