found out a few things we could use. 1. Grommets - which are a large punch hole which leaves visible hole thru the binding area with outer ring to bind. -negs on this are large hole/area = stiffer bound pages - grommet machine press is 300$
heres a source with more selection. if we went with a steel or brass screw. we could do something off the wall and patina the screw's so have a nice texture/ aged look to the screw. doing this with a cool color scheme and graphic layout may look a lot better than a sterile professional looking binding method https://www.chicagoscrews.com/products.php?catalog=us&category=15

2. screw post binding
this is what we were thinking was rivets. its easy and cheap. just have to buy the size we think the pages height will be.
