Exploded parts renders

quick screen grab. looking more realistic.
using a clear transparent resin texture for the base.

holy crap does that look better

whats causing the jaggies on the curvature, is that just because its not rendered/in app preview mode?

whats turning it blk, or is that because the background is blk?

Taylor Bernard on February 2, 2015:

well its zoomed in super close. but when you export a file from solidworks it makes its triangles. i have it set on crazy high res. but zooming in on radiuses that small you can see the mesh. dont know how to get around it right now, but wouldnt see it if you zoomed out a little bit.

on the color, i think i had a slight off grey color. but i think some of it is the floor, and the sky reflection as well.

Justin Bernard on February 2, 2015:

word on the zoomed, but i thought a circle would have no vertices?
i.e. its really just a cylinder

Taylor Bernard on February 2, 2015:

everything is made up of 'segments'

Justin Bernard on February 2, 2015:

wut.

made that little battery and elec imp board. easy but fun to make.
think of a main body color you want to use

also, how you want it exploded. layered vertically, to the side, ect.

Justin Bernard on February 3, 2015:

Maybe vert explode, out the bottom

I think we can leave out the wires

Justin Bernard on February 3, 2015:

'splode it yet?

where we at?

Taylor Bernard on February 3, 2015:

yeh, above pic. want to leave the enclosure on the floor and have the pieces hover or what?

Justin Bernard on February 3, 2015:

word

def a vert stack

Taylor Bernard on February 3, 2015:

Justin Bernard on February 3, 2015:

nice

i imagine doing somethign kinda like an angle like this, so your seeing more of product

whats the spotty looking stuff on the pcb, is that light/refractions going through the clear base?

Taylor Bernard on February 5, 2015:

^ these views any better to the picture you posted for exploded view?

Taylor Bernard on February 26, 2015:

ok found out how to explode blow it out, will have to tweak it a bit more. but do you want it to try and blow out perfectly vertically stacked, random horz and vert, ect. can also tweak each piece where it changes angle slightly. so explode from center basically

Justin Bernard on February 26, 2015:

was thinking just a simple vert stack expansion

Justin Bernard on February 26, 2015:

how we looking?
thx

Taylor Bernard on February 26, 2015:

figured out how to change the movement to what we want, trying to do animation.

Justin Bernard on February 26, 2015:

eta?

Taylor Bernard on February 26, 2015:

sorry got tied up in the c4d and forgot to respond. figured it all out.

here's a test run. explode + 3d camera tracking.

need to dial in the bath a bit better so its smoother, but this will give you an idea of what can do.

Taylor Bernard on February 26, 2015:

*path a bit better.

hand drew a spline so its a bit glitchy vs a bezier. like drawing freehand pen tool in illus vs chopping up an arc and moving end points

Taylor Bernard on February 26, 2015:

went ahead and rendered out that view just for kicks.
need to slow the camera movement down a whole lot, and not be so complex, hard to see how fast it moves. but on a 3sec animation its to much distance.

Justin Bernard on February 27, 2015:

cool cool

this exactly what i wanted to do, just a proof of concept.

we'll need to redo the camera movement and speed and stuff, but this will work. lets pause it till we need direct application (i.e. get site built and see exactly how to script it)
