you working on this any today? i can help out if need be.
Justin Bernard on November 24, 2013:
Totally, I'm working from now till late tonight prob. What part you want to help with, asset gathering and trimming or design?
Justin Bernard on November 24, 2013:
Agree on the font, I'm using first one. Needs that sort of hipster hand drawn look
Taylor Bernard on November 24, 2013:
maybe assets with my creativity level right now in the nasty weather
Justin Bernard on November 24, 2013:
K. I'm doing layout, the stuff you've found this far is good, try to find higher res images we can use, also need wood for texture, like crates...
Justin Bernard on November 24, 2013:
Hey I'm going to be working late on stuff, appreciate any help you can do now, but be sure to start day on time or early in morning in case have stuff come up tonight. Be rolling by 9 at latest, I'll be up before then. I have early checking with client at 4 est mon, then everything due 5pm tues...
Taylor Bernard on November 24, 2013:
ok can you give me any more details on shots you need. like overhead basket shots, straight on wood grain, ect. will help me narrow thru tons of junk on google image search.
Justin Bernard on November 24, 2013:
Def straight on wood, pieces that look like market crates and baskets, lighter rough stuff. Be sure track hours as this is client. Thx.
what you want to try and get me on in the morning on this so i can be thinking about it.
Justin Bernard on November 24, 2013:
all those crate designs are nice. i love old illus like that.
thanks for the crates
whoa, i thought that grapes model was a photo before i read your note
yeah go ahead and get sleep and get rolling early 9am or before, ill be working next 2-5hrs on layout/design/content, so tomorrow will be fast exercise in compositing/skinning stuff and adjusting layout as needed.
i havent gone through the image assets they gave us (product and fruit stuff), not sure if they trimmed all that out but if its not we'll def need the product trimmed, im guessing it is. also will be major helpful to have some fruit trimmed so we can overlay it, plus ill need to make a few objects out of fruit, a pie chart that we can make out of berries, and then maybe that tri shape arrow or a two sided arrow to point out duality.
then go through google image/stock/etc and see if we can find some straight forward market type shots, more like eye level looking forward i think at this point, but that will happen last. im thinking i'm going to wrap this thing with lot of flat color/wood borders, then have some areas peeking out from top/sides kinda like that fast company site the other day that had the bg video. i need a killer rich hero kinda shot of a market to pull that off, may desat it or play with it a bit, but the layout needs to feel solid and be big. thinking not people on this, like awesome woudl be a big fruit stand , like overflowing baskets of fruit that looks attractive.
then ill figure out a way to present text modules and content as sort of overlays. then will work in lot of greek copy for nav and content copy. will prob make a fake video player, and for that screen will use something thats personable like someone buying at a fruit stand. clients love junk like that, its trying to do the cheesy two people shaking hands stock image junk, but well done, on stuff like this where its all about giving to people, they are going to want to show people.
ill have tons more figured out first thing in morning after i set up a grid and start moving some pixels around tonight, so ill have bunch of assignements for more specifics then. i need to show a rough tomorrow at 4pm/3 your time. doesnt have to be finished by any means, just a check in to make sure direction doesnt need a big overhaul. then everything is due 130pm tues my time, so need to be wrapped prior to lunch. that means tomorrow is the main jam day may need your help in evening some tomorrow too but then its all done and back to internal projects for rest of week after that.
yeh this and another soyjoy was one someones 'portfolio' pages i saw. almost looked like they just did it for fun to try and spin off to get them to buy it, or maybe not.
Justin Bernard on November 25, 2013:
aaaah. i was wondering where you got that, its crazy good, its obvious motion piece story board, guys concept those out at big agencies all the time, could have easily been part of a pitch to get that $5mil account next year. no telling. either way, its 100x better than current direction so whoever did it was on the right path in my opinion.
2009 (this one is WAY better, and in direction i'd go, but i agree with their crit on this site, its way too farmer looking, looks like ad for produce or organic farming more than anything. they did good with thinking to get more tangible feeling i think, but shot too far) : http://admonkey.org/2009/05/19/soyjoy-tries-a-new-angle/
2010 (this to me is an overshoot of what they did before, hyper real. saw a few ads like this where they did minimal copy on a hybrid fruit/object kinda mockup. neat for big glossy magazine ads but doesnt translate well into other media): http://admonkey.org/2010/04/25/soyjoy-2/
